Sunburst Pendant Polymer Clay by ezo Sunburst Pendant Polymer Clay by ezo
The colors of this pendant were inspired by the last rays of sun as it sets. A bright burst of yellow gradually fades to yellow, then orange, pink, purple and finally black. The whole design appears again in miniature in the center of the pendant.

I used a skinner blend, a labor intensive polymer clay technique that causes the clay to gradually blend from one color to the next, to create the hazy qualities of the sunset colors. I also used millefiori, a glass-making technique that has been adopted by polymer clay artists to create designs in the clay. To give texture and add visual interest to the pendant, I impressed it with a needle to create the indented dots. All of the colors of the pendant are in the clay. No paints were used.

It is strung on turquoise leather cord, and has a sterling silver clasp.
