Millefiori Necklace by ezo Millefiori Necklace by ezo
I made the beads of this necklace out of polymer clay using millefiori, a technique that has been used by glassmakers for hundreds of years. I arranged the clay in a cane to create an image of a green circle being held by a brown cup. I then carefully stretched and rolled the cane to reduce it to three different sizes. I took slices from the cane and pierced them with a needle to create the beads. One side of the beads has a matte finish, and the other side has a subtle shine to it.
After I cured the beads to be hard, I strung them on strong nylon thread. I attached the string of beads to a beautiful gold-filled cable chain, and added a gold-plated clasp.
